Darwin on the 14 August 2007, and
after exploring some of the
'Top End',
headed south through Mt Isa, Birdsville
and Innamincka, taking in some of the
Queensland
outback, before ending in
Dubbo 10 days later on 24 August
2007. |

Who is Kidney Health Australia?
Kidney Health Australia, formerly the Australian Kidney Foundation, was
officially formed 38 years ago.
It is a non-profit organisation with a mission to be the lead organisation promoting kidney and urinary tract health through research, consumer participation, education and health service excellence.
What does Kidney Health Australia do?
Increase Awareness
In conjunction with renal specialists, health professionals and educators to reduce the incidence of kidney disease in the community, Providing a network of education, care and support for patients, their families and carers
Promote organ donation.
1 in 3 Australians are at risk of kidney disease and 1 in 7 have signs of kidney damage
Fundraising
Funding cutting edge medical research into cures for kidney and urinary tract disease
Kidney Health conducts Corporate Golf Days, Trivia nights and two annual motorsport events.
Volunteers are asked to raise funds to assist in the running of childrens camps across the country.
Funds raised primarily go toward education, research and assisting patients with financial support.
The Kidney Kar Rally
Began in 1989 with 15 entrants raising $60,000 and in 2007 raised over $500,000.
Is the annual motorsport event run over 5000kms at the end of August each year.
Is the major fundraising event on the Kidney Australia Calender.
Designed to educate remote communities on the importance of Kidney Health
Brings the regular competitors together on an annual basis building a sense of mateship and camaraderie
Is viewed as the most competitive rally among the fundraising circuit. |
